I was searching TED today for talks about creativity and found this wonderful segment by Sir Ken Robinson on why Creativity is as important as literacy in education and we should treat it with the same status”. As entertaining as it is insightful, Sir. Robinson’s observations hit me with particular gravity coming from a background steeped in the practice of and reverence for academics (Hello, Professor Mom!).

Sir. Ken argues that as we have evolved passed the industrial revolution, the consistent focus on skills that “will get you a job” is an outdated; we are in a time that calls for education to embrace those creative skills that have been so long pushed to the bottom of the educational totem pole. He is spot on and it is completely worth watching if you have a few moments between decks, papers, clients, and calculations.
