(Zee Avi, Honey Bee, Bitter Heart and others…)
I was listening to Studio 360 on this sunny Saturday and happened to catch an interview with Zee Avi, a Malaysian singer/songwriter/ukuleleist. She got her start through gathering an impressive YouTube following and, like many others these days, that’s actually a great testament to her appeal and actual talent.
After hearing the above series of songs I was instantly in love, downloaded her album immediately and have been listening all day. She reminds me of the classic and gone-too-soon folk singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. It’s rare to hear something that is simple, kind and utterly impressive.
She is also impossibly adorable:
I very much encourage you listen more on her site, youtube, and buy the album ($8.00!) on itunes…completely worth it.
3 days to spare and I found it, the only thing I want for xmas.
